Emergency Support
The 22 villages under YPS’s Jalihal project face severe challenges like frequent droughts, unsafe housing, and lack of external support. Over the past two decades, YPS has addressed these issues by providing food programs, drinking water, and animal feed during droughts, as well as offering immediate relief and essential items to families affected by fires. To ensure long-term recovery, YPS supports the construction of durable shelters and conducts counseling sessions for emotional resilience. With active local participation, YPS fosters community responsibility and continues to bring hope, stability, and empowerment to these underserved villages.
The 22 villages under YPS’s Jalihal project are among the most remote and underprivileged regions, where families often face crises without any external support. For over two decades, YPS has been a pillar of assistance, extending emergency support during challenging times.
The Jalihal area experiences two to three severe droughts every decade, leaving many families struggling for basic necessities. In response, YPS runs food programs for the most impoverished families, ensuring they do not go hungry. The organization also supplies water tanks and provides drinking water to villagers in need, addressing one of the most pressing issues during droughts. Additionally, recognizing the importance of sustaining livelihoods, YPS provides nutritious Animal Feed Concentrate to ensure the well-being of milch animals, which are a crucial source of income for many.
Another persistent challenge in these villages is the prevalence of unsafe housing. Many families still reside in huts with dry-leaf roofing, which are highly vulnerable to catching fire during the scorching summer months. Tragically, 5 to 10 huts are destroyed by fire each year, leaving families without basic necessities such as utensils, clothes, grains, and books. During these emergencies, YPS acts swiftly to provide immediate relief. Victim families are supplied with essential items, including cooking utensils, food ingredients, books, and notebooks, ensuring they can begin to recover from their loss.
To help families rebuild, YPS provides roofing sheets and cement pillars, enabling them to construct low-cost, durable shelters. The organization also conducts counselling sessions to help victims cope with the emotional trauma caused by such incidents. Through this holistic approach, YPS not only addresses the material needs of affected families but also provides them with emotional support, allowing them to regain their stability and start afresh.
These initiatives are carried out with the active participation of local villagers, fostering a strong sense of community and shared responsibility. Through its unwavering commitment, YPS continues to bring hope and resilience to these remote villages, ensuring that no family is left to face hardships alone.
