Global Connect

Empowering Future Generations with Global Connect

For over 15 years, YPS | Education has been dedicated to nurturing young minds through our Digital High School. A common question visitors ask our students is, “What do you want to be in life?” While a few confident students express their aspirations, all the others just repeat that answer. This is because many lack the exposure to diverse career paths. This is where our initiative, Global Connect, steps in. As technology becomes increasingly accessible, the career opportunities available to these students will expand, while some traditional paths may diminish. Global Connect aims to bridge this gap for the community of Jalihal by keeping them informed about global trends and possibilities.

Our Approach at SCOPE Digital School

In the initial phase, we have integrated this approach at our digital school, SCOPE. Every few weeks, we invite professionals from various fields to share their experiences and inspire our students. So far, we’ve hosted a Tesla engineer from Palo Alto, a Web3 expert from Japan, a doctor from Amsterdam, and a social activist from London.

Challenges We Face

  1. Language Barrier: Most students speak Marathi or Kannada, with only a few understanding Hindi and none fluent in English. To ensure they don’t miss out on valuable insights, we invite speakers who can communicate in Marathi or Kannada. Occasionally, we provide translation services for exceptional speakers. We’re also developing an English-speaking course for long-term benefits.

  2. Internet Access: Until summer 2024, we relied on mobile hotspots for video calls due to limited internet access. This issue has now been resolved.

  3. Environmental Setup: With summer temperatures reaching up to 45°C (113°F), learning can be challenging. We’ve installed air conditioning in our Global Connect Room and equipped it with a VR headset for immersive experiences.

  4. Computational Resources: Currently, we have one computer for every seven students. For many, this is their first experience using a computer. We aim to improve this ratio so each student has individual access (please consider donating to support this cause).

Our Long-Term Goals

  1. Ensure every student discovers their passion.
  2. Foster global collaboration among students to solve problems and create innovative solutions, promoting mutual understanding and a stronger global society.
